| Description | 7-(Methylsulfinyl)heptylamine, also known as 7-(methylsulfinyl)-1-aminoheptane or 7-meso-heptyl-NH2, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as sulfoxides. Sulfoxides are compounds containing a sulfoxide functional group, with the structure RS(=O)R' (R,R' not H). 7-(Methylsulfinyl)heptylamine is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. 7-(methylsulfinyl)heptylamine is found in Arabidopsis thaliana. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 7-(methylsulfinyl)heptylamine. |
