| Description | (3R,6E,8E,10E,12E,14E,16E,18E,20E,22E,24E)-2-(acetyloxy)-2,6,10,14,19,23-hexamethyl-25-(2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-en-1-yl)pentacosa-4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,24-undecaen-3-yl acetate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as xanthophylls. These are carotenoids containing an oxygenated carotene backbone. Carotenes are characterized by the presence of two end-groups (mostly cyclohexene rings, but also cyclopentene rings or acyclic groups) linked by a long branched alkyl chain. Carotenes belonging form a subgroup of the carotenoids family. Xanthophylls arise by oxygenation of the carotene backbone. (3r,4e,6e,8e,10e,12e,14e,16e,18e,20e,22e,24e)-2-(acetyloxy)-2,6,10,14,19,23-hexamethyl-25-(2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-en-1-yl)pentacosa-4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,24-undecaen-3-yl acetate is found in Sarcoscypha coccinea. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (3R,6E,8E,10E,12E,14E,16E,18E,20E,22E,24E)-2-(acetyloxy)-2,6,10,14,19,23-hexamethyl-25-(2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-en-1-yl)pentacosa-4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,24-undecaen-3-yl acetate. |
