| Description | Eujambolin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavonoid-3-o-glycosides. These are phenolic compounds containing a flavonoid moiety which is O-glycosidically linked to carbohydrate moiety at the C3-position. Eujambolin is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Eujambolin has been detected, but not quantified in, fruits. 6-{[2-(3,5-dihydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-4-oxochromen-3-yl]oxy}-4,5-dihydroxy-2-methyloxan-3-yl acetate is found in Syzygium cumini. This could make eujambolin a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
