DescriptionPinicolic acid C, also known as pinicolate C, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as triterpenoids. These are terpene molecules containing six isoprene units. (2r)-2-[(3r,3ar,6s,7s,9br)-6-(2-carboxyethyl)-3a,6,9b-trimethyl-7-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-1h,2h,3h,4h,5h,7h,8h,9h-cyclopenta[a]naphthalen-3-yl]-6-methylhept-5-enoic acid is found in Fomitopsis pinicola. It was first documented in 1996 (PMID: 8728714). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Pinicolic acid C.
