Natural Product Identification
Common Name6,7-dihydroxy-7-(hydroxymethyl)-1-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-1h,4ah,5h,6h,7ah-cyclopenta[c]pyran-5-yl 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoate
Description6,7-Dihydroxy-7-(hydroxymethyl)-1-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-1H,4aH,5H,6H,7H,7aH-cyclopenta[c]pyran-5-yl 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as stilbenes. These are organic compounds containing a 1,2-diphenylethylene moiety. Stilbenes (C6-C2-C6 ) are derived from the common phenylpropene (C6-C3) skeleton building block. The introduction of one or more hydroxyl groups to a phenyl ring lead to stilbenoids. 6,7-dihydroxy-7-(hydroxymethyl)-1-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-1h,4ah,5h,6h,7ah-cyclopenta[c]pyran-5-yl 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoate is found in Veronica hederifolia. 6,7-Dihydroxy-7-(hydroxymethyl)-1-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-1H,4aH,5H,6H,7H,7aH-cyclopenta[c]pyran-5-yl 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
