Common Namecekanoic c8 acid
Description6-Methylheptanoic acid, also known as isocaprylic acid, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as medium-chain fatty acids. These are fatty acids with an aliphatic tail that contains between 4 and 12 carbon atoms. 6-Methylheptanoic acid is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Outside of the human body, 6-Methylheptanoic acid has been detected, but not quantified in, alcoholic beverages and fats and oils. cekanoic c8 acid is found in Pelargonium graveolens and Solanum pennellii. This could make 6-methylheptanoic acid a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
