Description10-Hydroxy-3-methoxy-1,3,5,7-cadinatetraen-9-one, also known as lacinilene C 7-methyl ether, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as sesquiterpenoids. These are terpenes with three consecutive isoprene units. 10-Hydroxy-3-methoxy-1,3,5,7-cadinatetraen-9-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, 10-Hydroxy-3-methoxy-1,3,5,7-cadinatetraen-9-one has been detected, but not quantified in, fats and oils. 1-hydroxy-4-isopropyl-7-methoxy-1,6-dimethylnaphthalen-2-one is found in Gossypium hirsutum. This could make 10-hydroxy-3-methoxy-1,3,5,7-cadinatetraen-9-one a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
