These are flavones that features a C5-isoprenoid substituent at the 8-position. 8-[3,4-dihydroxy-4-(hydroxymethyl)oxolan-2-yl]-5,7-dihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-6-[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]chromen-4-one is found in Sechium edule and Xanthosoma sagittifolium. 8-[3,4-Dihydroxy-4-(hydroxymethyl)oxolan-2-yl]-5,7-dihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-6-[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]-4H-chromen-4-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
