DescriptionEdulisin IV belongs to the class of organic compounds known as angular furanocoumarins. These are furanocoumarins, with a structure characterized by a furan ring angularly fused to a coumarin. Edulisin IV is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Edulisin IV has been detected, but not quantified in, green vegetables. This could make edulisin IV a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
