Description(3B,24x)-Cycloartane-3-oxo-24,25-diol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as cycloartanols and derivatives. These are steroids containing a cycloartanol moiety (3b,24x)-Cycloartane-3-oxo-24,25-diol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, (3b,24X)-cycloartane-3-oxo-24,25-diol has been detected, but not quantified in, fruits. 15-(5,6-dihydroxy-6-methylheptan-2-yl)-7,7,12,16-tetramethylpentacyclo[9.7.0.0¹,³.0³,⁸.0¹²,¹⁶]octadecan-6-one is found in Aglaia elliptica, Artocarpus heterophyllus, Dysoxylum malabaricum and Gardenia aubryi. This could make (3b,24X)-cycloartane-3-oxo-24,25-diol a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
