| Description | (2S),(2''S)-8,8''-5'-trihydroxy-7,7''-3,3''-4,4''-5''-heptamethoxy-5,5''-biflavan belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 7-o-methylated flavonoids. These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C7 atom of the flavonoid backbone (2S),(2''S)-8,8''-5'-trihydroxy-7,7''-3,3''-4,4''-5''-heptamethoxy-5,5''-biflavan is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. (2s)-2-(3-hydroxy-4,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-[(2s)-8-hydroxy-7-methoxy-2-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-3,4-dihydro-2h-1-benzopyran-5-yl]-7-methoxy-3,4-dihydro-2h-1-benzopyran-8-ol is found in Muntingia calabura. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (2S),(2''S)-8,8''-5'-trihydroxy-7,7''-3,3''-4,4''-5''-heptamethoxy-5,5''-biflavan. |
