| Common Name | 8-isopropyl-4a-methyl-5-oxo-3,4,6,7,8,8a-hexahydronaphthalene-2-carbaldehyde |
|---|
| Description | 4A-methyl-5-oxo-8-(propan-2-yl)-3,4,4a,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydronaphthalene-2-carbaldehyde belongs to the class of organic compounds known as ketones. These are organic compounds in which a carbonyl group is bonded to two carbon atoms R2C=O (neither R may be a hydrogen atom). Ketones that have one or more alpha-hydrogen atoms undergo keto-enol tautomerization, the tautomer being an enol. 8-isopropyl-4a-methyl-5-oxo-3,4,6,7,8,8a-hexahydronaphthalene-2-carbaldehyde is found in Cosmos sulphureus. 4A-methyl-5-oxo-8-(propan-2-yl)-3,4,4a,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydronaphthalene-2-carbaldehyde is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
