| Common Name | 12-[5,9-dihydroxy-2-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-10-methoxy-11-methyl-6-oxo-1h,2h-furo[2,3-c]acridin-1-yl]-7,11-dihydroxy-6-methoxy-2,2,5-trimethyl-1-oxa-5-azatetraphen-10-one |

| Description | Citbismine D belongs to the class of organic compounds known as acridones. These are acridines containing a ketone group attached to the C9 carbon atom of the acridine moiety. Citbismine D is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Citbismine D has been detected, but not quantified in, citrus. 12-[5,9-dihydroxy-2-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-10-methoxy-11-methyl-6-oxo-1h,2h-furo[2,3-c]acridin-1-yl]-7,11-dihydroxy-6-methoxy-2,2,5-trimethyl-1-oxa-5-azatetraphen-10-one is found in Citrus aurantium. This could make citbismine D a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
