Flavanones are compounds containing a flavan-3-one moiety, with a structure characterized by a 2-phenyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1-benzopyran bearing a ketone at the carbon C3. methyl 2-{3-[(3r)-3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-8,10-dihydroxy-6-oxo-2,4-dioxatricyclo[5.4.0.0³,⁵]undeca-1(11),7,9-trien-5-yl]-2,4,6-trihydroxyphenyl}-2-oxoacetate is found in Allium cepa.
