These are quinoline alkaloids containing the dibenzo[de,g]quinoline ring system or a dehydrogenated derivative thereof. 4,15,16-trimethoxy-10-azatetracyclo[7.7.1.0²,⁷.0¹³,¹⁷]heptadeca-1,3,6,9(17),11,13,15-heptaene-5,8-dione is found in Dehaasia incrassata, Hernandia nymphaeifolia, Hernandia sonora and Illigera pentaphylla. 4,15,16-Trimethoxy-10-azatetracyclo[7.7.1.0²,⁷.0¹³,¹⁷]Heptadeca-1,3,6,9(17),11,13,15-heptaene-5,8-dione is a moderately basic compound (based on its pKa).
