| Common Name | 4-{3a,5a,10-trihydroxy-7-[(4-hydroxy-6-methyl-5-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}oxan-2-yl)oxy]-9a,11a-dimethyl-dodecahydro-1h-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-1-yl}-5h-furan-2-one |

| Description | Corchorusoside A belongs to the class of organic compounds known as cardenolide glycosides and derivatives. Cardenolide glycosides and derivatives are compounds containing a carbohydrate glycosidically bound to the cardenolide moiety. Corchorusoside A is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, corchorusoside a has been detected, but not quantified in, a few different foods, such as green vegetables, herbs and spices, and tea. 4-{3a,5a,10-trihydroxy-7-[(4-hydroxy-6-methyl-5-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}oxan-2-yl)oxy]-9a,11a-dimethyl-dodecahydro-1h-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-1-yl}-5h-furan-2-one is found in Corchorus olitorius. This could make corchorusoside a a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
