| Description | 3-Hydroxy-4-(5-hydroxy-7-methyl-1,4-dioxo-1,4-dihydronaphthalen-2-yl)-5-methyl-1aH,2H,7H,7aH-naphtho[2,3-b]oxirene-2,7-dione belongs to the class of organic compounds known as naphthoquinones. Naphthoquinones are compounds containing a naphthohydroquinone moiety, which consists of a benzene ring linearly fused to a bezene-1,4-dione (quinone). 3-hydroxy-4-(5-hydroxy-7-methyl-1,4-dioxonaphthalen-2-yl)-5-methyl-1ah,7ah-naphtho[2,3-b]oxirene-2,7-dione is found in Diospyros batocana, Diospyros chamaethamnus, Diospyros mespiliformis and Diospyros verrucosa. 3-Hydroxy-4-(5-hydroxy-7-methyl-1,4-dioxo-1,4-dihydronaphthalen-2-yl)-5-methyl-1aH,2H,7H,7aH-naphtho[2,3-b]oxirene-2,7-dione is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
