| Description | (S)-Edulinine, also known as edulinine, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as hydroquinolones. Hydroquinolones are compounds containing a hydrogenated quinoline bearing a ketone group (S)-Edulinine is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, (S)-Edulinine has been detected, but not quantified in, pomes. 3-(2,3-dihydroxy-3-methylbutyl)-4-methoxy-1-methylquinolin-2-one is found in Boronia pancheri, Haplophyllum griffithianum, Haplophyllum patavinum, Melicope barbigera, Melicope semecarpifolia, Ruta graveolens, Teclea simplicifolia, Vepris nobilis, Zanthoxylum mayu, Zanthoxylum nitidum and Zanthoxylum usambarense. This could make (S)-edulinine a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
