Gamma butyrolactones are compounds containing a gamma butyrolactone moiety, which consists of an aliphatic five-member ring with four carbon atoms, one oxygen atom, and bears a ketone group on the carbon adjacent to the oxygen atom. (1'r,2r,2'r,3's,4''s,5'r,6's,7'r,8's,9's)-2'-hydroxy-4''-[(1s)-1-hydroxyethyl]-8'-methoxy-3,3,7'-trimethyldispiro[oxirane-2,12'-[4,10]dioxatetracyclo[7.2.1.0²,⁷.0³,⁵]dodecane-6',2''-oxolane]-5'',11'-dione is found in Picrodendron baccatum.
