These are lignans with a structure that contains either a tetrahydrofuran ring, a furan ring, or a furofuan ring system, that arises from the joining of the two phenylpropanoid units. 5-[4-(2h-1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)-hexahydrofuro[3,4-c]furan-1-yl]-2-methoxyphenol is found in Asarum heterotropoides, Cinnamomum kotoense, Horsfieldia irya, Piper mullesua and Piper sarmentosum. 5-[4-(2H-1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)-hexahydrofuro[3,4-c]furan-1-yl]-2-methoxyphenol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
