| Description | 13-(Furan-3-yl)-7-(2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl)-6,6,8,12-tetramethyl-15,18-dioxo-2,14-dioxapentacyclo[7.7.1.1⁴,⁸.0¹,¹².0³,¹⁷]Octadecan-5-yl 2-methylbutanoate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as limonoids. These are highly oxygenated, modified terpenoids with a prototypical structure either containing or derived from a precursor with a 4,4,8-trimethyl-17-furanylsteroid skeleton. All naturally occurring citrus limonoids contain a furan ring attached to the D-ring, at C-17, as well as oxygen containing functional groups at C-3, C-4, C-7, C-16 and C-17. 13-(furan-3-yl)-7-(2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl)-6,6,8,12-tetramethyl-15,18-dioxo-2,14-dioxapentacyclo[7.7.1.1⁴,⁸.0¹,¹².0³,¹⁷]octadecan-5-yl 2-methylbutanoate is found in Xylocarpus moluccensis. 13-(Furan-3-yl)-7-(2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl)-6,6,8,12-tetramethyl-15,18-dioxo-2,14-dioxapentacyclo[7.7.1.1⁴,⁸.0¹,¹².0³,¹⁷]Octadecan-5-yl 2-methylbutanoate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
