| Description | 3,4-Secoisopimara-4(18),7,15-triene-3-oic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as carboxylic acids. Carboxylic acids are compounds containing a carboxylic acid group with the formula -C(=O)OH. 3,4-Secoisopimara-4(18),7,15-triene-3-oic acid is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. 3-[(1s,2s,6s,8as)-6-ethenyl-1,6-dimethyl-2-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-2,3,5,7,8,8a-hexahydronaphthalen-1-yl]propanoic acid is found in Salvia cinnabarina. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 3,4-secoisopimara-4(18),7,15-triene-3-oic acid. |
