These are alpha amino acids which have the L-configuration of the alpha-carbon atom. 3-seleninoalanine is found in Apis cerana. 3-seleninoalanine was first documented in 2001 (PMID: 11305255). 3-Selenino-L-alanine is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa).
