These are steroids containing ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3beta-ol or a derivative thereof, which is based on the 3beta-hydroxylated ergostane skeleton. 6,9a,11a-trimethyl-1-(4,5,6-trimethylheptan-2-ylidene)-tetradecahydrocyclopenta[a]phenanthren-7-ol is found in Scrippsiella trochoidea. 2,6,15-Trimethyl-14-(4,5,6-trimethylheptan-2-ylidene)tetracyclo[8.7.0.0²,⁷.0¹¹,¹⁵]Heptadecan-5-ol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
