Pyridinecarboxylic acids are compounds containing a pyridine ring bearing a carboxylic acid group. 5-pyridoxic acid is found in Trypanosoma brucei. 5-pyridoxic acid was first documented in 1958 (PMID: 13610871). 5-Pyridoxic acid is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa).
