These are monoterpenes containing a skeleton structurally characterized by the presence of a cylopentane fused to a pyran ( forming a 4,7-dimethylcyclopenta[c]pyran), or a derivative where the pentane moiety is open. 8-hydroxy-3-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-4,4,7-trimethyl-9-(2-methylbutanoyl)tricyclo[5.3.1.0¹,⁵]undec-8-ene-10,11-dione is found in Hypericum papuanum. 8-Hydroxy-3-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-4,4,7-trimethyl-9-(2-methylbutanoyl)tricyclo[5.3.1.0¹,⁵]Undec-8-ene-10,11-dione is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
