These are fatty acids with an aliphatic tail that contains between 4 and 12 carbon atoms. 9-{3,3a,4,6a-tetrahydroxy-tetrahydro-2h-cyclopenta[b]furan-2-yl}nonanoic acid is found in Helicodendron giganteum. 9-{3,3A,4,6a-tetrahydroxy-hexahydro-2H-cyclopenta[b]furan-2-yl}nonanoic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
