Natural Product Identification
Common Name2-[3,4-dihydroxy-5-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)phenyl]-5,7-dihydroxy-6-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzopyran-4-one
Description5,7,3',4'-Tetrahydroxy-6,5'-di-C-prenylflavanone belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 6-prenylated flavanones. These are flavanones that features a C5-isoprenoid substituent at the 6-position. Thus, 5,7,3',4'-tetrahydroxy-6,5'-di-C-prenylflavanone is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. 2-[3,4-dihydroxy-5-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)phenyl]-5,7-dihydroxy-6-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzopyran-4-one is found in Schoenus nigricans. 5,7,3',4'-Tetrahydroxy-6,5'-di-C-prenylflavanone is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
