Description5-(Hydroxymethyl)-2-methoxybenzene-1,3-diol, also known as 3,5-dihydroxy-4-methoxybenzyl alcohol or dhmba compound, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as methoxyphenols. Methoxyphenols are compounds containing a methoxy group attached to the benzene ring of a phenol moiety. 5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-methoxybenzene-1,3-diol is found in Crassostrea gigas. 5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-methoxybenzene-1,3-diol was first documented in 2010 (PMID: 20823607). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-methoxybenzene-1,3-diol.
