These are flavonoids consisting of a flavan (3,4-dihydro-2-phenyl-2H-1-benzopyran) moiety that carries two hydroxy groups at the C3- and C4-positions. 8,16-dioxatetracyclo[7.7.1.0²,⁷.0¹⁰,¹⁵]heptadeca-2,4,6,10,12,14-hexaene-4,5,13,17-tetrol is found in Peltophorum africanum. 8,16-Dioxatetracyclo[7.7.1.0²,⁷.0¹⁰,¹⁵]Heptadeca-2(7),3,5,10(15),11,13-hexaene-4,5,13,17-tetrol is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. |
