| Description | BRYONIOSIDE A belongs to the class of organic compounds known as cucurbitacins. These are polycyclic compounds containing the tetracyclic cucurbitane nucleus skeleton, 19-(10->9b)-abeo-10alanost-5-ene (also known as 9b-methyl-19-nor lanosta-5-ene), with a variety of oxygenation functionalities at different positions. (1r,3as,3bs,7s,9ar,9br,11ar)-7-hydroxy-1-[(2r,5r)-5-hydroxy-6-methyl-6-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}heptan-2-yl]-3a,6,6,9b,11a-pentamethyl-1h,2h,3h,3bh,4h,7h,8h,9h,9ah,11h-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-10-one is found in Bryonia dioica.
