Natural Product Identification
Common Name5-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-7-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-2,3-dihydro-1-benzopyran-4-one
DescriptionDihydrogenistin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as isoflavonoid o-glycosides. These are o-glycosylated derivatives of isoflavonoids, which are natural products derived from 3-phenylchromen-4-one. Dihydrogenistin is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. 5-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-7-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-2,3-dihydro-1-benzopyran-4-one is found in Glycine max. 5-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-7-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-2,3-dihydro-1-benzopyran-4-one was first documented in 2002 (PMID: 12088420). Based on a literature review a small amount of articles have been published on dihydrogenistin (PMID: 34254908) (PMID: 32024620).
