These are aromatic polycyclic compounds containing a carbohydrate component glycosidically linked to a lignan moiety. They include 1-aryltetralin lactones. 2-{[8-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-6-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-dimethoxy-7-({[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}methyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalen-2-yl]oxy}-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol is found in Albizia julibrissin. 2-{[1-(4-Hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-(hydroxymethyl)-6,8-dimethoxy-7-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-2-yl]methoxy}-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
