These are steroids containing ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3beta-ol or a derivative thereof, which is based on the 3beta-hydroxylated ergostane skeleton. 7,9-dihydroxy-9a,11a-dimethyl-1-(6-methyl-5-methylidenehept-3-en-2-yl)-tetradecahydrocyclopenta[a]phenanthren-5-one is found in Sinularia gibberosa. 3,5-Dihydroxy-2,15-dimethyl-14-(6-methyl-5-methylidenehept-3-en-2-yl)tetracyclo[8.7.0.0²,⁷.0¹¹,¹⁵]Heptadecan-8-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
