Common Name5-(3-hydroxyprop-1-en-1-yl)-3-methoxybenzene-1,2-diol
Description5-Hydroxyconiferyl alcohol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as methoxyphenols. Methoxyphenols are compounds containing a methoxy group attached to the benzene ring of a phenol moiety. 5-Hydroxyconiferyl alcohol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). 5-(3-hydroxyprop-1-en-1-yl)-3-methoxybenzene-1,2-diol is found in Arabidopsis thaliana. 5-(3-hydroxyprop-1-en-1-yl)-3-methoxybenzene-1,2-diol was first documented in 2015 (PMID: 25902506). A phenylpropanoid that is cinnamyl alcohol in which the hydrogens at positions 3 and 4 on the benzene ring are replaced by hydroxy groups while that at position 5 is replaced by a methoxy group.
