These are prenol lipids containing a carbohydrate moiety glycosidically bound to a terpene backbone. 4-(3-hydroxybutyl)-5,5-dimethyl-3-({[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}methyl)cyclohex-2-en-1-one is found in Excoecaria cochinchinensis, Glochidion zeylanicum and Salacia chinensis. 4-(3-Hydroxybutyl)-5,5-dimethyl-3-({[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}methyl)cyclohex-2-en-1-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
