| Description | Aescigenin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as triterpenoids. These are terpene molecules containing six isoprene units. (1r,3s,4r,7r,8s,9s,12r,13r,17s,20s,21r,22s)-8,22-bis(hydroxymethyl)-3,4,8,12,19,19-hexamethyl-23-oxahexacyclo[18.2.1.0³,¹⁶.0⁴,¹³.0⁷,¹².0¹⁷,²²]tricos-15-ene-9,21-diol is found in Aesculus indica. (1r,3s,4r,7r,8s,9s,12r,13r,17s,20s,21r,22s)-8,22-bis(hydroxymethyl)-3,4,8,12,19,19-hexamethyl-23-oxahexacyclo[18.2.1.0³,¹⁶.0⁴,¹³.0⁷,¹².0¹⁷,²²]tricos-15-ene-9,21-diol was first documented in 2008 (PMID: 18762387). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Aescigenin. |
