Furan is a five-membered aromatic ring with four carbon atoms and one oxygen atom. 3-hydroxy-3,6-dimethyl-2-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-ylidene)-7,7a-dihydro-3ah-1-benzofuran-4-one is found in Angelica pubescens and Ostericum grosseserratum. 3-Hydroxy-3,6-dimethyl-2-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-ylidene)-2,3,3a,4,7,7a-hexahydro-1-benzofuran-4-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
