DescriptionBergaptin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as terpene lactones. These are prenol lipids containing a lactone ring. 4-[(3,7-dimethylocta-2,6-dien-1-yl)oxy]furo[3,2-g]chromen-7-one is found in Citrus hassaku, Citrus limon, Citrus macroptera, Tetradium daniellii, Feroniella lucida and Hansenia forbesii. Bergaptin is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
