Description2-(4,7A-dimethyl-3-oxo-octahydro-2-benzofuran-4-yl)-4-hydroxy-5-(propan-2-yl)benzoic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as terpene lactones. These are prenol lipids containing a lactone ring. 2-(4,7a-dimethyl-3-oxo-tetrahydro-1h-2-benzofuran-4-yl)-4-hydroxy-5-isopropylbenzoic acid is found in Cladonia rangiferina. 2-(4,7A-dimethyl-3-oxo-octahydro-2-benzofuran-4-yl)-4-hydroxy-5-(propan-2-yl)benzoic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
