The sapogenin moiety backbone is usually based on the oleanane, ursane, taraxastane, bauerane, lanostane, lupeol, lupane, dammarane, cycloartane, friedelane, hopane, 9b,19-cyclo-lanostane, cycloartane, or cycloartanol skeleton. 6,14-dihydroxy-15-[5-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-2-methyloxolan-2-yl]-7,7,12,16-tetramethylpentacyclo[9.7.0.0¹,³.0³,⁸.0¹²,¹⁶]octadecan-17-one is found in Astragalus alopecurus. 6,14-Dihydroxy-15-[5-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-2-methyloxolan-2-yl]-7,7,12,16-tetramethylpentacyclo[9.7.0.0¹,³.0³,⁸.0¹²,¹⁶]Octadecan-17-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
