| Description | Citreoviral, also known as 5-epi-citreoviral, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as oxolanes. These are organic compounds containing an oxolane (tetrahydrofuran) ring, which is a saturated aliphatic five-member ring containing one oxygen and five carbon atoms. (2e)-3-[(2s,3r,4r,5r)-3,4-dihydroxy-2,4,5-trimethyloxolan-2-yl]-2-methylprop-2-enal is found in Penicillium citreoviride. (2e)-3-[(2s,3r,4r,5r)-3,4-dihydroxy-2,4,5-trimethyloxolan-2-yl]-2-methylprop-2-enal was first documented in 2004 (PMID: 15199570). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Citreoviral (PMID: 19785443). |
