These are benzo-1,3-dioxanes having a phenyl group attached to the 1,4-dioxane moiety. 4-[3-(hydroxymethyl)-6-(3-methoxyprop-1-en-1-yl)-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin-2-yl]benzene-1,2-diol is found in Phytolacca americana. 4-[3-(Hydroxymethyl)-6-(3-methoxyprop-1-en-1-yl)-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin-2-yl]benzene-1,2-diol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
