Description3-[2-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-4-oxo-4H-chromen-8-yl]prop-2-enoic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavones. These are flavonoids with a structure based on the backbone of 2-phenylchromen-4-one (2-phenyl-1-benzopyran-4-one). 3-[2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-4-oxochromen-8-yl]prop-2-enoic acid is found in Turnera diffusa. 3-[2-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-4-oxo-4H-chromen-8-yl]prop-2-enoic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
