Description(3AS,5S,6aS)-5,6a-diethyl-5-[(2S,4R,5E)-4-ethyl-2-methyloct-5-en-1-yl]-hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-2-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as furofurans. These are organic compounds containing a two furan rings fused to each other. Furan is a five-membered aromatic ring with four carbon atoms and one oxygen atom. (3as,5s,6as)-5,6a-diethyl-5-[(2s,4r,5e)-4-ethyl-2-methyloct-5-en-1-yl]-dihydro-3h-furo[3,2-b]furan-2-one is found in Plakortis halichondrioides. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (3aS,5S,6aS)-5,6a-diethyl-5-[(2S,4R,5E)-4-ethyl-2-methyloct-5-en-1-yl]-hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-2-one.
