Glycosyl-N-acylsphingosines are compounds containing a sphingosine linked to a simple glucosyl moiety. 2-hydroxy-n-(3-hydroxy-9-methyl-1-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}octadeca-4,8-dien-2-yl)henicosanimidic acid is found in Sarcophyton ehrenbergi. 2-Hydroxy-N-(3-hydroxy-9-methyl-1-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}octadeca-4,8-dien-2-yl)henicosanimidic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
