Description5-(2-{4-Hydroxy-1,5,5-trimethyl-3,6-dioxaspiro[bicyclo[2.2.2]Octane-2,2'-oxane]-5'-yl}ethyl)-2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-ene-1-carbaldehyde belongs to the class of organic compounds known as ketals. These are acetals derived from ketones by replacement of the oxo group by two hydrocarbyloxy groups R2C(OR)2 ( R not Hydrogen ). This term, once abandoned, has been reinstated as a subclass of acetals. 5-(2-{4-hydroxy-1,5,5-trimethyl-3,6-dioxaspiro[bicyclo[2.2.2]octane-2,2'-oxan]-5'-yl}ethyl)-2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-ene-1-carbaldehyde is found in Tricholoma pardinum. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 5-(2-{4-hydroxy-1,5,5-trimethyl-3,6-dioxaspiro[bicyclo[2.2.2]Octane-2,2'-oxane]-5'-yl}ethyl)-2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-ene-1-carbaldehyde.
