| Description | Neotussilagolactone belongs to the class of organic compounds known as terpene lactones. These are prenol lipids containing a lactone ring. Neotussilagolactone is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Neotussilagolactone has been detected, but not quantified in, tea. (4z)-4-ethylidene-5-isopropyl-8-methylidene-3-oxo-1,4a,7,8a-tetrahydro-2-benzopyran-7-yl (2e)-3-methylpent-2-enoate is found in Tussilago farfara. This could make neotussilagolactone a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
