Common Name4-methoxybenzene-1,2-diol
Description4-Methoxybenzene-1,2-diol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as methoxyphenols. Methoxyphenols are compounds containing a methoxy group attached to the benzene ring of a phenol moiety. 4-Methoxybenzene-1,2-diol is a predicted metabolite generated by BioTransformer¹ that is produced by the metabolism of 3-methoxyphenol. 4-Methoxybenzene-1,2-diol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). This hydroxylation-of-benzene-ortho-to-edg occurs in humans. 4-methoxybenzene-1,2-diol is found in Sphagneticola trilobata and Torreya grandis. It is generated by cyp1a2 enzyme via a hydroxylation-of-benzene-ortho-to-edg reaction.
