Description2-{[5-Hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)-3-imino-2-methoxycyclohex-1-en-1-yl]amino}acetic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as alpha amino acids. These are amino acids in which the amino group is attached to the carbon atom immediately adjacent to the carboxylate group (alpha carbon). {[5-hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)-3-imino-2-methoxycyclohex-1-en-1-yl]amino}acetic acid is found in Patiria pectinifera and Axinella polypoides. 2-{[5-Hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)-3-imino-2-methoxycyclohex-1-en-1-yl]amino}acetic acid is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa).
